The Heart Behind the Cube: A Home for My Mind
What happens when the structures you once depended on
no longer give you somewhere solid to stand?
In the first episode of the Cube Philosophy Podcast, Jacob B. Goettsche goes back to the heart behind Cube Philosophy—and to the search that eventually gave him what he calls “a home for my mind.”
Jake shares the childhood experience of being caught by a powerful wave, swept through rocks, and discovering that fighting against what was happening could leave him trapped. Years later, that memory became a way of understanding his own search for stability through uncertainty, faith, identity, relationships, and the realities he could not simply think his way out of.
This is the heart behind the Cube: why Jake needed the framework before he ever tried to explain it.
Along the way, he asks some of the questions that helped shape Cube Philosophy: How do we know what we know? What is actually mine? What belongs to another person? How do we remain grounded when certainty begins to fall apart?
Jake begins introducing several ideas that will become central to the larger framework, including My Reality and Another’s Reality, Knowledge and Influence, Positive and Negative, the Ground, autonomy, accountability, and the invisible center that helps give the Cube orientation.
And throughout the episode, one idea keeps returning:
Truth is a paradox, not a slogan.
Jake also explores what it can mean to claim your own reality, to develop without shaming yourself for not being finished, and to build a home within yourself when the home you inherited did not give you what you needed.
This first recording was never intended to become a polished public presentation. Jake originally turned on the camera expecting to record a short personal reflection. Instead, something much more personal emerged: the story behind why he needed a structure capable of helping him stay oriented when life became confusing, overwhelming, or uncertain.
